Last Week’s Poll Results: In honor of Labor Day, last week’s poll asked St. Louisans to choose the autumnal feature they most anticipate. Kids across the area should take heart—just 4.2 percent of respondents voted for the start of school. Another 8.3 percent chose the chance to shoo annoying neighbors from the pool, and 12.5 percent cited an end to summer heat (and bloated electric bills). But fully 75.0 percent of respondents went pastoral and voted for the changing of leaves’ colors on diurnal trees throughout the metroplex.

School Daze

Our September issue―now on newsstands throughout the metro area!―welcomes the start of the new academic year with “Get Schooled,” a four-page piece by Tom Hoerr, the head of the New City School. So tell us, parents: How would you grade Hoerr’s 10-point curriculum for fostering children’s scholastic success?

A―extremely informative and worthwhile throughout
B―superior suggestions in much of the piece
C―somewhat useful insights here and there
D―little that wasn't common-sensical
